Numerical Analysis of Turbulent Forced Convection in a Shell and Tube Heat Exchanger

A numerical study of water flow in heat exchanger is proposed. The thermo-hydraulic behavior of the water is studied in detail by FLUENT. The effect of transverse baffles in the heat exchanger is presented in detail. With mass flow variation between 0.5 kg/s and 2 kg/s, heat transfer coefficient increases by 62.94%, pressure loss increases by 90.82% and heat transfer rate increases by 64.17%.
