Analysis Consideration of a Solar PV Drive Cold Storage in Saharan Environment

The Adrar province is Algeria’s largest city, and agriculture has evolved as an important economic sector, with more than 70% of the population living in rural areas and relying on agricultural crop exploitation. In remote lands, through the use of suitable storage and preservation methods, may it assist farmers in reducing post-harvest losses and increasing shelf life. However, the main struggle is providing electric power from a long distance or at a high cost over the national grid connection. As a result, focusing more on the use of solar PV energy is usually a reliable alternative source of electricity to run the cooling units. This study examined the feasibility of using solar photovoltaic electricity to cool fresh fruits and vegetables at an off-grid location in a desert area. A prototype container was planned and built within the URER-MS Adrar site. It was tested outside during hot weather conditions. This document is centered on an analytical strategy that describes all energetic components. The cabinet was tested with a local tomato product. Thermal and electrical behavior were all measured hourly. Based on solar energy input, the overall coefficient of performance COP was 3. As a result, it was established that a suitable sized PV system may be designed and implemented somewhere in crop production. The case study provided a method for calculating the GPV generator at roughly 3 KWc. This technology is seen as a promising investment concept in Algeria’s south. This will ensure self-sufficiency, environmental friendliness, and economic development in the Saharan zone.
