Role of Virtualization in Secure Network
摘要
Virtualization is a method of partitioning a computer’s resources into several execution environments. It is a mechanism to convert one physical resource to many virtual resources to maximize the resource utilization. Virtualization has a number of advantages, including security, flexibility, ease of configuration and maintenance, cost savings, and so on, but it also adds a level of performance overhead. Additionally, Hypervisor plays an important role in providing partitioning, isolation, and abstraction to the virtual environment. In this study, the two hypervisors, VMware and VirtualBox, are evaluated quantitatively and qualitatively using LMbench and IOzone to measure and analyze their performance.
