Family Piesmatidae Amyot and Serville, 1843

The fauna of the family Piesmatidae Amyot and Serville, 1843 in the Middle East comprises 10 species in two genera, Parapiesma Péricart, 1974 and Piesma Lepeletier and Serville, 1825. This family has been recorded from 11 countries of the Middle East thus far: Iran (10 species in two genera), Turkey (five species), Saudi Arabia (three species), Egypt, Iraq, Yemen (two species), and Cyprus, Israel, Jordan, Syria, and United Arab Emirates (one species).
