摘要

The fauna of the family Veliidae Brullé, 1836 in the Middle East includes 18 species and subspecies in six genera, Halovelia Bergroth, 1893, Microvelia Westwood, 1834, Rhagovelia Mayr, 1865, Tenagovelia Kirkaldy, 1908, Velia Latreille, 1804, and Xiphoveloidea Hoberlandt, 1951. This family has been recorded from 13 countries of the Middle East so far: Iran (nine species), Turkey, Yemen (each with seven species), Egypt, Israel, Saudi Arabia (each with six species), Cyprus, Syria (each with four species), Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon (each with three species), Oman, and United Arab Emirates (each with one species).
