摘要

Radiation is an integral component of management of pelvic malignancies. Advancement in treatment techniques have led to improved overall survival. Hence witnessing long time survivors is not uncommon. The oncologists therefore now focus on the overall quality of life of the patients. Radiation cystitis is a frequently encountered complication of pelvic radiotherapy commonly presenting as dysuria, frequency, urgency and haematuria. It is a predictable outcome depending on the total and fractionated dose of radiation, volume of normal organs exposed and radiation technique used. Its the incidence of cystitis can be significantly reduced with the use of more conformal techniques.
