Prevention and Management of Complications During Treatment of Childhood Tumors

  • Megha Saroha

摘要

There are many advancements that have been done in pediatric oncology with respect to early and better detection, improvement in survival and at the same time minimizing long term adverse effects in cancer survivors. Ameliorating the complications occurring during the treatment of childhood cancers can provide better outcomes and quality of life. Complications include febrile neutropenia (FN), nausea and vomiting, other gastrointestinal complications like colitis, diarrhea, constipation, extravasation of chemotherapy, pain as a result of tumor or treatment, etc. Few important ones are being covered in detail in this chapter and rest have been discussed elsewhere in the book.
