Prevention and Management of Cardiotoxicity Caused by Chemotherapeutic Agents

Use of chemotherapeutic agents is the cornerstone in cancer treatment. However, various chemotherapeutic agents have their share of toxicities. Early identification of chemotherapy related toxicities can lead to better management as these complications as they can often be life threatening specially when they are cardiovascular in nature. Drug dose modification, cardiac markers monitoring, and frequent ECG and echo testing are of utmost value to prevent cardiac complications.
