摘要

Mucositis is one of the commonest complication of cancer treatment encountered during chemotherapy & in head and neck radiation therapy. The degree of discomfort experienced by the patient is determined by the grade of mucositis. Occasionally mucositis is responsible for treatment interruptions. Mucositis contributes to malnutrition secondary to low oral intake and also adversely affects the quality of life. The appropriate pain management and oral hygiene is warranted to reduce patient discomfort and in prevention of treatment interruption.
