Double Y Glanuloplasty (DYG) Procedure

Due to potential risks and possible unsatisfactory cosmetic outcome, glanular hypospadias were often not treated. However, in the last decades, the concern of parents about the future consequences of having an abnormal-looking penis has increased. Glanular forms of hypospadias with mobile meatus can now be corrected with a simple surgical technique, called double Y glanulomeatoplasty (DYG) described by Hadidi in 2010. It is a combination of advancement of the mobile meatus (the first Y) into a designed slit-like glans (second inverted Y). Proper selection of patients is mandatory. The technique is only suitable for patients with glanular hypospadias associated with mobile meatus. The operation results in excellent cosmetic and function result. The long-term success rate is 97%.
