A Study of the Coordinated Development of Energy Supplies and the Demand for Carbon Neutrality

摘要

Building a clean, low-carbon, and efficient energy system is of paramount importance for China to achieve its carbon neutrality goal. The long-term requirement of green development has injected new connotations into the coordinated development of the energy system in the traditional sense. The coordinated development of energy supplies and the demand for carbon neutrality consists of five aspects: the deep integration of the energy industrial chain, the spatial equilibrium of energy production and consumption, the development of energy technology, the interaction of energy markets, and the coordination of energy policy systems. In the face of the challenges China currently faces in promoting the coordinated transformation of energy supply and demand, the future relationship between energy supply and demand needs to evolve from “passive” coordination to “active” coordination, from “weak” coordination to “strong” coordination, and from “static” coordination to “dynamic” coordination, forming a two-way driving method of “demand-driven supply, supply adapts to demand”. The in-depth transformation of the energy system should not only solve the problems of energy misallocation in quantity but also promote the deep coupling of energy supply and demand in industry, region, technology, markets, and policy systems.
