This chapter focuses on two novels that represent errors as constitutive of revolutionary experiences. Set during the revolution’s crises-ridden years, Edberto Villegas’s Barikada [Barricade] (2013) and Norman Wilwayco’s Gerilya [Guerrilla] (2008) portray the difficulties experienced by revolutionaries in mastering the revolutionary terrain, forging comradely relations, and applying the revolutionary framework on the ground, causing them to commit analytical and behavioral errors. This chapter considers these literary fictions as pedagogies of errors—narratives that convey important lessons in the struggle through unflinching yet cautionary representations of mistakes, deviations, and miscalculations. In these two novels, revolutionary experiences serve as important resources to reflect on the inevitability of errors in the struggle, and the need to correct, and learn from, them.
