This study examines the performance of the eMC algorithm, from Eclipse Treatment Planning System (TPS) of VRIAN, in electron beam dose calculations. The study was done by comparison with the Monte Carlo GATE simulation. The effect of parameters: precision, calculation grid size, smoothing methods and smoothing level, in Eclips TPS, were explored to see their performance on the dose distribution. The energy electron beam of 12 MeV and the field size of 15 × 15 cm2 were chosen in this study. The study showed that the precision, the size of the calculation grid, the smoothing method and the level of smoothing significantly affect the dose distribution. The first two factors also influenced the calculation time. These obtained results contribute to a deep understanding of the behavior of the Eclipse TPS eMC algorithm, thereby guiding optimal parameter configurations for precise calculations in clinical and research settings.

摘要
