The goal of this chapter is to thoroughly examine and analyze the body of scientific literature related to sports-related innovation from an economic perspective. This involves reviewing studies that explore how innovation intersects with sports through various actors, including companies producing technical equipment, sports organizations, and individuals. As noted by several authors, innovation in sports operates at both institutional and individual levels (Caza, 2000; Ratten, 2011a, 2011b). The literature identifies a range of topics related to sports innovation, such as entrepreneurship, technology, institutional changes, social issues, the emergence of new sports, market shifts, and management. Innovation in sports also encompasses various aspects, including technological, social, organizational, community, and commercial dimensions (Tjønndal, 2017). This chapter aims to provide a comprehensive inventory of the sports-related innovation domain, offering well-organized research support through a detailed review of existing literature.
