摘要
The first Global Okra Round Table (GORT 1) was held under the aegis of ATPBR with support of ICAR-IARI on October 10–12, 2022, at the NAAS complex, New Delhi. During the period 2010 to 2022, the hybridization of okra reached 85 percent coverage in India, and the market value of its seeds went from INR 90 crores to over INR 800 crores (USD 9.5 million). India grows 75% of the global acreage, followed by Nigeria at 15%. It displaced tomato as the highest-value vegetable crop for annual seed revenue. It was the first time that a full conference was organized for a single vegetable crop in India. The fact that over 250 participants from 54 organizations and 13 states, including five from abroad, attended the conference was proof that it was a decision in the right direction.
