Conventional breeding faces difficulties in achieving simultaneous improvement of all the desired traits while avoiding undesirable ones. This challenge arises from factors such as genetic correlations between traits, population structure, linkage disequilibrium, and the possibility of linkage drag (Hartl and Clark 1997).
