The vast prevalence of neurodegenerative disorders and the limited options for treating their underlying causes have spurred investigations into alternative approaches for the management of these disorders. Biomaterials, due to their ability to emulate extracellular matrix environment with facilitation of cellular growth, have been extensively explored for their role in regenerative therapy. Further, they have been explored as an efficient carrier for the transport of active moieties employed for the treatment of neurodegenerative disorders. Biomaterials, natural as well as synthetic, have been previously utilized and reported to exhibit the potential in regenerative medicine as tissue engineering systems. This chapter is designed to give a brief about the potential of natural biopolymers as a frontier for carrying out neural regeneration in varied neurodegenerative disorders c.a. Alzheimer, Parkinson, etc., and will assist in forecasting their potential to override the limitations associated with the current neurodegenerative disorder management strategies.

摘要
