Aerodynamic Characteristics of Leading-Edge Protuberance Wind Turbine Blade Featuring Gurney Flaps

An experimental investigation has been performed to investigate the aerodynamic characteristics of Leading-Edge Protuberance (LEP) Wind Turbine Blade featuring Gurney flaps. Two different configurations of LEP featuring baseline clean wing and modified wing with Gurney flaps were considered in this study. All the test models were tested for a wide range of angles of attack ranging 0o ≤ α ≤ 90° at different Reynolds number in the order of 105. The aerodynamic forces acting over the test models were obtained from the surface pressure measurements made over the wing at different turbulence intensities using MPS4264 Scanivalve simultaneous pressure scanner corresponding to a sampling frequency of 700 Hz.
