Subverting the Modern Discourse of Development in Jacinta Kerketta’s Poems
摘要
In reference to the various illustrative verses from her poetry collection Angor (2016), the chapter discusses the modern reductionist discourse of development which affects the ecology of the tribal land. The chapter analyzes the excerpts critically from her various poems that present a staunch critique of modernization, deterritorialization, industrialization and urbanization. Her works touch upon a plethora of issues like ecological damage at the hands of capitalists and also presents a lament for the marginalized tribal world which is struggling hard to maintain its identity. Kerketta’s poems present a critique of modernization and capitalism with an alternative reformative worldview which resists the present concept of development by exposing the damage done to the human and the non-human world.
