Recent Advances in Diabetic Monitoring Devices: Present to Future Directions
摘要
Glucose monitoring is the major need for diabetic people. In order to avoid most of the diabetic complications, it is necessary to keep glucose levels in control. Long-term diabetes leads to severe microvascular and macrovascular complications. Traditional systems measure glucose with blood samples from human body, which needs clinical setup. While some people need continuous monitoring where blood samples can’t be drawn so often. In order to overcome this, continuous glucose monitors (CGM) are used. CGMs are considered as boon to diabetic community. Hence, people started depending on CGM for diabetes monitoring. Noninvasive monitoring is much effective to analyze insulin levels. Wearable biosensors for glucose monitoring are upcoming. The integration of multiple systems like Internet of Things (IoT), wearable devices, mobile technology, and artificial intelligence facilitates the monitoring of healthcare systems. This paper explores various diabetic monitoring devices available at present and also discusses the future possibilities of diabetic monitoring.
