Using the ALESSI Evaluation Model to Explore the Shape Structure of Parametric Design Products

摘要

This study aims to explore how to use the unique appearance and form of parametric design to express product characteristics and to establish deep emotional connections. The ALESSI evaluation model is used to evaluate the results of parametric design in quickly adjusting product styling, and to select design products that can attract customers. During the experiment, six participants with design backgrounds were recruited to evaluate parametric products. At the end of the test, retrospective interviews were used to understand the participants’ feedback of the employed ALESSI evaluation model in parametric design. The results of this study show that Participants A, D, and F (Two of the male participants both chose NO. 6) pay more attention to the appearance and unique style design of products. They believe that appearance design is not limited to use functions but is also an important way to show personal taste and improve home decoration. Participants B, C, and E (all female) pay more attention to the functionality and practicality of the product. They believe that it is crucial that the product is simple and intuitive to operate and can meet the user’s needs. The results show that the original design strikes a balance between appearance and functionality (Participants B, and D chose original shape NO.11), appealing to both appearance and function. On the other hand, Parametric design also provides different options for function-focused participants (Participants C, and E).
