Motivation Assisting System for Physical Exercise Based on Classifying Users’ Attitudes
摘要
Customary physical exercise is important to keep health, but maintaining motivation for sports may be difficult for less active people. It is a crucial function for sports management systems to encourage users with customization reflecting users’ personality. In this study, seven personality groups classified based on lifestyle- and sports-related factors were applied to high school and college students, and the characteristics of each group were examined. In addition, we developed an exercise motivation system using the high-evaluation function of short message service and investigated the relationship between the effectiveness of the system and personality groups. The system changes the number of LIKEs according to the number of calories consumed. The results of a survey of high school students showed that the system is likely to function as a means of “LIKE evaluation from people close to you” and “recognition of your efforts.” Meanwhile, a survey conducted on college students suggested that the level of involvement in sports may impact the effectiveness of this system more than the awareness of evaluation by others. Future research should apply this system to other clusters to gain feedback from others and determine the LIKE clusters that have the greatest effect on the number of LIKE. However, research on all personality groups remains insufficient, and more comprehensive studies are needed in the future.
