A Study on Visual Schema for the History of Automotive Style - Apply Arts History Method to Design History
摘要
Visual Schema is a significant concept in the study of form changes, initially formed in the field of art history and widely applied in style analysis. This concept, through appropriate transformation, can also be used to train AI models for form recognition. This paper applies the concept of Visual Schema to the analysis of automobile form development, using the “Zeitgeist” from art history as the X-axis and “schema transformation” as the Y-axis, to organize a more “organic” history of automobile forms. By applying the principle of SCHEMA opposition, we verify the context of a century-long history of automobile forms. This approach aims to expand the application of Visual Schema analysis in design history and promote an awareness of everyday aesthetics, enabling cars to be appreciated not just as transportation tools or economic assets but as “dynamic sculptures” worthy of appreciation.
