Exploring the Appeal of Pokémon Ga-Olé from the Perspective of Virtual-Real Interaction

This study presents the issues why gamers prefer POKÉMON GA-OLÉ to other types of game and what specific of interaction characteristics cause them to continue proceeding gaming. Furthermore, this study solves the above-mentioned issues by exploring the appeal of POKÉMON GA-OLÉ. Then, how POKÉMON GA-OLÉ created a new type of interaction between gamers and the game through the combination of virtuality and reality was presented in this study. This study conducted a preference-based study on the basis of Miryoku Engineering. Then, the researchers used the EGM Method to integrated 6 experts and collected 172 emotional and professional words so the critical concepts of POKÉMON GA-OLÉ could be determined. Then, this study used EGM to determine the hierarchy of the relationship among the types of appeal factors, the reasons for gamers’ preferences, and the interaction design characteristics of POKÉMON GA-OLÉ by showing the semantic structure of appeal. In addition, the researchers reviewed 17 articles and arranged interviews for 6 experts to gather the words related to Miryoku cumulatively. Hence, the critical interaction characteristics of POKÉMON GA-OLÉ and appeal factors can be determined Finally, the paper found that the popularity of POKÉMON GA-OLÉ can be ascribed to the design of the particular models of game interaction, which integrated virtuality with reality skillfully to attract gamers. Furthermore, this study proves that the interaction of POKÉMON GA-OLÉ successfully combines the virtual contents, real interface and field of game to motivate gamers. This study contributes to the field of communication, design and human–computer interaction.
