Exploring the Conceptual Design of Soul Communication Devices from a Speculative Design Perspective

This study explores the conceptual design of soul communication devices from the perspective of speculative design. Through literature analysis, it examines descriptions of the soul in religion, philosophy, film and television, and historical records, summarizing people's diverse views and beliefs about the soul. Additionally, it analyzes the props and devices used for interacting with souls in films and games, exploring their design concepts and common characteristics. Based on these analyses and the theory of speculative design, this study proposes four conceptual designs for soul communication devices, which are based on VR glasses, ordinary glasses, and physical reflection structures. These designs integrate various detection and display technologies to demonstrate possible future scenarios and functions of soul communication devices. Furthermore, this study utilizes 3D models to propose potential appearances of soul-viewing devices, aiming to inspire future researchers.
