A Research of Kansei Engineering and Affective Computing for Generating Game Controller
摘要
In product design, computer-aided design (CAD) is used for the efficient output and accurate presentation of products. Early CAD elements were employed in the later stages of the design process, such as for product simulation and manufacturing. With the advancement of computer hardware and software technology, CAD and computer-aided manufacturing has been widely used in the early development of computer-aided concept design. In addition, a generative design system has been applied to the stage of concept development, which can quickly present diverse and systematic product ideas, allowing the designer to stimulate more possibilities in initial sketches. However, during the design process, designers might not know which forms users like. Thus, the research problem of this study is how to use heavy gamers’ emotional preferences for a controller’s appearance and integrated them with a generative concept-based CAD system in the initial design stage to generate a design concept preferred by users. Thus, this study focused on the design of game controllers, emphasized the emotional needs of heavy gamers, summarized the correlation of game controller appearance and emotional needs, and integrated a generative design system in the process to assist with conceptual design.
