This chapter first explores the molecular identification of the oxidized form of NAD+ and then elucidates its three main sources, namely, the de novo synthesis pathway, the Preiss–Handler pathway, and the salvage pathway. It also points out that the distribution of NAD+ in cells is uneven. The study of NAD+ biology has been reinvigorated by the growing understanding of the regulatory processes and therapeutic potential of NAD+.

摘要

This chapter first explores the molecular identification of the oxidized form of NAD+ and then elucidates its three main sources, namely, the de novo synthesis pathway, the Preiss–Handler pathway, and the salvage pathway. It also points out that the distribution of NAD+ in cells is uneven. The study of NAD+ biology has been reinvigorated by the growing understanding of the regulatory processes and therapeutic potential of NAD+.
