Breast cancer is the most common cancer and most common cause of cancer-related death among women globally and in India. As per the current data, the incidence is higher in developed countries as compared to developing nations. The mortality rates, however, vary globally but are highest in developing regions likely due to a lack of early screening and prompt management. Even in developed nations, there is a significant disparity in mortality rates among black and white women, signifying inequality in the existing health system. Better health awareness and easy availability of breast cancer screening programs and treatment facilities would create a situation of benefit globally. This chapter aims to elucidate a global overview of breast cancer incidence and epidemiology, highlight the disease burden and guide future policymakers.
