Synthesis and Lessons Drawn

This chapter offers a synthesis of key themes emerging from the book as a whole and seeks to identify lessons that can be learned for the successful management of internal and external pressures on the Antarctic region and the Antarctic Treaty System. It highlights the main conclusions arising from the three inter-related lenses of analysis used in the collection: (i) detailed historical case studies; (ii) analyses of recent or current tensions in specific issue areas; and (iii) particular disciplinary and regional perspectives.
