The Antarctic Treaty System in the Context of Geopolitical, Technological and Environmental Change

The opening chapter situates this study of the Antarctic Treaty System (ATS) in the context of contemporary geopolitical, environmental and technological change. The ATS prides itself on having traversed previous periods of rapid geopolitical change, including the end of the Cold War, and the volume seeks to identify themes and lessons from its previous achievements. The chapter includes an overview of the volume and its constituent chapters.
