Aseptic Loosening on the Femoral Side

Aseptic loosening is one of the main reasons for revision after total hip arthroplasty (THA). Studies have found that the most common indications for revision total hip arthroplasty in the United States include hip instability (22.5%), mechanical loosening (19.7%), and infection (14.8%) [1]. The statistical data of 397 cases of revision total hip arthroplasty from December 2010 to December 2015 in Jishuitan Hospital, Beijing, showed that the most common indications for revision total hip arthroplasty were aseptic loosening (70.3%), osteolysis (14.9%), and infection (13.9%).
