Study on Contamination of Fluoride in Global Groundwater and Its Various Possible Remedies

Fluoride occurs naturally as a mineral within in groundwater, oceans and seawater serves as a crucial component of drinking water in numerous regions worldwide. Its role in human consumption is significant, because of its presence in the primary potable water origin. In recent decades, the issue of mineral fluoride contamination in subsurface water has gained prominence due to its dual effects on organisms. Adequate fluoride intake is essential for dental health, but excessive consumption leads to a distressing and untreatable condition known as fluorosis. This ailment detrimentally impacts teeth, muscles and bones. The risk of fluorosis escalates when fluoride concentration surpasses 1.5 ppm (parts per million). Diverse factors contribute to increased fluoride levels in groundwater, encompassing both environmental and natural influences. Regrettably, this concern has not received the attention it warrants. The primary goal of the current investigation is to assess global fluoride content, and contamination, and explore methods for fluoride disposal and its reutilization.
