Robotics, Drones, Remote Sensing, GIS, and IoT Tools for Agricultural Operations and Water Management
摘要
Agriculture is a crucial sector facing various challenges that hinder productivity and sustainability. Meeting the growing global demand for food due to population growth is a primary challenge, requiring significant increases in agricultural production. Water scarcity and mismanagement of resources get intensified with the impacts of rising population and climate change, thus making water management very crucial. Traditional farming practices have led to soil degradation, loss of biodiversity, and excessive use of fertilizers and pesticides. Challenges faced by farmers are rising input costs, market volatility, and limited access to information and resources. Technology plays a vital role in addressing these challenges by revolutionizing agriculture. Precision farming enabled by remote sensing, Geographic Information System (GIS), and Global Positioning System (GPS), optimizes resource utilization and maximizes productivity. Robotics and automation reduce labour shortage and adverse environmental impact. Drones provide valuable insights of crop health and distribute inputs precisely. Remote sensing technologies enable large-scale monitoring and assessment of agricultural areas. IoT devices collect real-time data, enhancing efficiency and supporting sustainable practices. The integration of robotics, drones, remote sensing, GIS, and The Internet of Things (IoT) tools represents a paradigm shift in farming, improving productivity, sustainability, and profitability.
