Developing a Full Situational Awareness-Based Ecological and Digital Intelligence Management (FEDM) System for Bird (Wildlife) Strike Prevention at Civil Aviation Airports

Due to the continuous expansion and development of the global aviation industry, the risk of bird strikes (wildlife) to the safety of aircraft flight and airport operations has increasingly posed a threat. Traditional airport bird (wildlife) strike prevention measures are increasingly unable to meet operational management needs. Integrating scientific bird (wildlife) activity management with airport operational management remains a challenge that has plagued the global aviation industry. With the development of the concept of full situational awareness based on smart digital technologies, it is possible to achieve real-time monitoring of airport operational status and achieve information sharing and collaboration. This provides new application scenarios and solutions for airport bird strike prevention and ecological management. Therefore, based on the future development needs of civil aviation and sustainable ecological environment, this study proposes the concept and idea of constructing a Full situational awareness-based Ecological and Digital intelligence Management (FEDM) system for airport bird strike prevention. This system integrates zone control, ecological environment management, and digital intelligence-driven concepts, using radar photoelectric technology and traditional patrolling methods to ensure effective perception of airport operations, surrounding bird situations, and the ecological environment. Gradually establish a long-term monitoring and data analysis system for bird situations and environmental monitoring, enhancing the predictive management capability of the environment and wildlife activity. This study applies the development of full situational awareness capabilities at airports to the activities of birds (wildlife) and ecological management, conducting an in-depth analysis from aspects such as governance concepts, system frameworks, and intelligent innovations. This aims to provide theoretical support for the construction of a full situational awareness system (FEDM) for bird strike and ecological management at airports, and to offer valuable references for the digital innovation and future development of wildlife management and ecological environment management at global civil aviation airports.
