Simulation Study on Tensile Mechanical Properties of 2D SiCf/SiC Composites with Different Woven Densities

SiC fibers reinforced SiC matrix composites are regarded as the major alternative materials for the hot sections of the next advanced gas turbine engines. The objective of this investigation is to provide some helpful information on the tensile mechanical properties of 2D SiCf/SiC composites with nine types of woven densities. Meso-structure cell model was established and progressive damage analysis was subsequently conducted. Results showed that the progressive damage analysis method based on the cell model used in this paper was valid. The predicted modulus, proportional limit stress, and ultimate strength had maximum relatively errors of 8.9, 18.6, and 16.6%, respectively, compared to the experiment results. Moreover, the present method was able to depict the stress—strain curves of composites with different woven densities.
