By analyzing various techniques for monitoring bolt loosening using Lamb waves, along with their advantages and disadvantages, this study proposes a monitoring method for bolt loosening localization using damage localization imaging. Two damage indices are constructed by introducing Lamb wave energy and correlation coefficients, and are combined with a damage probability imaging method for bolt loosening localization. Experimental verification of this method is conducted on aluminum alloy bolted strip plates. The experimental results show that for single bolt loosening, this method can accurately locate the loose bolt. For simultaneous loosening of double bolts, the method more accurately locates the guided wave in the area affected by bolt loosening. This method has engineering application value.
