Healthy and young periocular skin is perceived as smooth, even-toned skin with good texture and free from contour defects. Ideally, there should be a smooth transition from the lower eyelid over the cheek. Convexities and concavities in periorbital area do affect the overall aesthetic presentation. Also, wrinkling and texture change lends a tired and sad look to the face, which is the commonest emotional attribute that patients present with. Ergo, different treatment modalities with varying levels of evidence are used to correct, fill, lift, contour and resurface the periorbital area, such as dermal fillers, neuromodulators, dermal and subcutaneous threads, platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy, lasers, energy-based devices and more, for that elusive youthful appearance. Periocular rejuvenation enhances the patients’ external appearance and boosts their overall confidence.
