Anatomy of the Face and Its Relevance for Minimally Invasive Procedures
摘要
The anatomy of the face has experienced a renaissance in the last decades. Due to the increasing numbers of minimally invasive and surgical interventions performed on the face to ameliorate signs of aging and to perform a beautification of the face, the relevance of facial anatomy has increased tremendously. The knowledge of anatomy is important not only for the safety of the procedure, but also for efficacy of treatments involving minimally invasive hyaluronic-acid-based soft tissue fillers or neurotoxins, biostimulators, and energy-based devices. By introducing a plethora of anatomical concepts, the treatment of the various signs of aging has changed within a really short period of time. This chapter intends to highlight the importance of anatomy, introduce the five-layered concept of the face, and discuss and explain danger zones in the face and biomechanical findings so as to increase the safety and efficacy of minimally invasive treatments.
