Radiofrequency (RF) and Its Place in Aesthetics Today
摘要
Radiofrequency (RF) has previously been used for non-invasive energy-based procedures in cardiology, oncology, neurology, and many other fields for the past seven decades. RF can ablate abnormal heart electrical conduction pathways in atrial fibrillation [1], abolish tumors [2], and tighten pharyngeal muscles in obstructive sleep apnea [3]. However in the past decade, the non-invasive energy-based procedure has gained popularity in the aesthetic and cosmetic medicine fields as well. Its effectiveness, safety, tolerability, and shorter recovery time in rejuvenating the signs of aging and improving the overall skin longevity and quality have met the majority of patients’ expectations.
