Developing a Climate Resilience Framework for Cities with an Emphasis on Innovative Technology Applications
摘要
In the twenty-first century, climate change is one of the most challenging and threatening global issues. Therefore, it is necessary to pursue a multilateral approach to address both the inevitable causes and effects. Today, the future of cities' resilience against climate change lies in the innovative application of technologies, making them a sustainable and promising solution. Therefore, the current research takes a practical approach by gathering information from articles and documents to present the framework of climate resilience in cities. The focus is on the application of innovative technologies through the examination of concepts, dimensions, indicators, and experiences. Experiences are a fundamental pillar in research. Studies of Denmark, the United States of America, Singapore, Japan, and the Netherlands demonstrate that innovative technology has been utilized in the fields of water management, energy, beaches, buildings, and green systems. The application process also takes place in four steps: planning, data collection and processing, validation, and policy. The output of these steps includes identification, technological needs assessment, information base, environment with potential for technology application, capacity building for technology application, technology application mechanisms, and all actors. Innovative technologies can be considered a driving force in enhancing climate resilience. The climate resilience framework includes the goals of mechanisms (institutional framework and resilient innovative technology framework), processes, and outputs.
