Food poisoning is a prevalent global health issue that happens when individuals ingest contaminated food that contains many types of pathogens, including bacteria, viruses, and parasites. This chapter offers a thorough examination of foodborne illness, encompassing its categorization, the mechanisms via which it induces sickness, and its substantial implications on global health and the economy, which have been further influenced by recent globalization trends. The progress in technology, namely in the techniques of treating diseases with natural substances, has had a crucial impact on decreasing the impact of food poisoning. In addition, the utilization of in silico tools has significantly enhanced the identification and control of foodborne illnesses. Computational technologies have changed the process of generating antibacterial medications by providing efficient and cost-effective methods for discovering new therapeutic agents. Computational approaches, such as molecular modeling and pharmacophore mapping, expedite the discovery of novel medications that can specifically target bacterial illnesses. This chapter also explores the therapeutic potential of natural chemicals in combating foodborne diseases, highlighting their remarkable structural diversity and complex mechanisms of action. Furthermore, the chapter elucidates the mechanisms by which antibacterial medications hinder bacterial physiology, such as by membrane disruption and interference with nucleic acid synthesis. Additionally, a comprehensive analysis of the latest scientific breakthroughs and emerging patterns in utilizing natural products for the management of food poisoning. The integration of computational and experimental methods holds significant promise for expediting the discovery and development of highly effective antibacterial medications, thereby effectively addressing the challenge of managing foodborne illnesses in a rapid and cost-efficient manner.
