Biomass Energy Conversion Technologies to Produce Electrical Power, Green Hydrogen, Bio-Oil and Biochar Through Biomass Gasification and Pyrolysis
摘要
The demand for energy grows continuously along with population and economic growth. Growing energy demand results in the exploitation of fossil fuels, like coal, diesel, petrol, natural gas, etc.; the fossil fuel used in different applications have a large carbon footprint (CFP) and emits a large quantity of greenhouse gases (GHG), which results in global warming and climate change. Biomass wastes like agricultural residues and MSW are a potential resource for sustainable energy management. Unlike solar photovoltaic (PV) or windmill-based power generation, biomass power generation plant can work round the clock as per demand of the power requirement. Green hydrogen production through advanced biomass-steam gasification technology is the most efficient technology of hydrogen when compared to other technologies like hydrogen from power produced by PV or windmills. Hydrogen production through biomass-steam gasification is the lowest production cost when compared to other sources of green hydrogen production. Biomass gasifier system can be used to meet different types of thermal energy requirement of the industries.
