The Theoretical Basis of Quantum Mechanics

The Schrödinger equation is introduced and discussed in few special cases: free particle, particle in a potential well and particle impinging on a barrier. The tunnel effect is discussed first for a rectangular barrier and then applied to the Coulomb barrier of nucleus to discuss the alpha decay and the fusion process.
