The Cross Section
摘要
This chapter introduces the concept of cross section to measure the probability that a certain interaction can take place. An empirical and a microscopic definitions are provided. The dynamics of elastic collisions is reviewed and the expressions of the energy exchange is derived. Applications are presented to some basic nuclear phenomena.
