摘要

Hemostasis is a complex process which is affected by several disease conditions and medications. Understanding the factors affecting hemostasis and procedure-related risk is essential to minimize periprocedural complications related to bleeding and thrombosis. A detailed pre-procedure workup includes clinical history and relevant laboratory investigations to identify and manage any comorbidities, drugs or prior interventions which may affect the bleeding or thrombotic risk. There are evidence-based guidelines to optimize periprocedural hemostasis, however, multidisciplinary discussion and an individualized approach may be necessary in complicated cases.
