Advances in Suction Thrombectomy

Acute thrombosis is the development of acute blood clot/ thrombus either in arterial or venous system. For the management of these conditions, thrombus needs to be removed. Suction thrombectomy aspirate the thrombus out of the blood vessels without the need of anticoagulation or thrombolytic drugs. Newer advances like artificial intelligent suction machine to reduce the blood loss, wide bore catheter, good torque transfer, tip modification can help to remove the thrombus significantly without damage to native blood vessels and reduced blood loss. This chapter will elaborate the advancement in suction thrombectomy technologies.
