Laboratory Information Systems

Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) is a laboratory information management system designed specifically for hospital laboratory departments, which utilizes computers to comprehensively manage various laboratory information. LIS can receive, process, and store information generated during the testing process, enabling the automation of tasks related to laboratory work. LIS can also promote communication between laboratory departments and clinical doctors, accelerate the delivery of patient test reports, and play a key role in improving testing quality, reducing information transmission errors, shortening the generation cycle of test results, and improving patient diagnosis and treatment outcomes. Starting from the framework and workflow of LIS, this chapter explores its development history, research status, and cutting-edge research.
