This study explores the application of IoT technology in enhancing women's safety, exemplified by the creation of a multipurpose jewelry Echo: a smart pendant. Echo is a wearable device equipped with an SOS alert system, a discreet camera, and GPS tracking capabilities, designed to address the critical issue of women's safety. The research approach included a thorough evaluation of the present literature, in-depth interviews, and questionnaires performed on college students (young women aged 18–25) to learn about their safety concerns and preferences. Based on the findings of the research phase, a novel women's safety framework was proposed, and multiple jewelry design concepts were created. Following a thorough evaluation of these concepts, a smart pendant was selected for further development. The pendant aims to easily fit into women's lifestyles while offering an added level of security by utilizing user-centered design methodologies. Iterative variations in design were performed during the evaluation phase to ensure that the final product met both functional and aesthetic objectives. The smart pendant “Echo” includes a hidden camera with a GPS receiver, sending distress signals to a smartphone app when the pendant is twisted. In the end, a companion smartphone app is developed to facilitate critical information exchange in times of distress by sending SOS alerts with real-time location data to parents, guardians, and law enforcement agencies. In conclusion, this smart wearable pendant aims to empower women to navigate their daily lives with a heightened sense of safety by integrating advanced IoT technology with user-centric design, fostering a more secure and inclusive environment, especially in a developing country like India.

摘要
