Axiology of Gender

Tagore’s axiology led him to appreciate and search for a balance and harmony in every being, even in the disproportionate and opposing elements. He was fascinated by the idea of cosmic balance, wherein he found the rhythm in the movement of the planets, and also in the earthly cycle of seasons. With such an axiological lens, it is natural that the poet would see the role and relationship between the man and the woman as ‘complementary and supplementary’.
