  • Liu Jinhai

摘要

China is a country composed of farmers as the main body; thus, the development and progress of Chinese society cannot be separated from the active participation of farmers. Recognizing this, Chinese Communists have attached great importance to rural and farmer work in the process of leading the Chinese people in the land revolution, socialist revolution, and construction, always mobilizing the enthusiasm of farmers as the main task of each period. In this process, unique rural work organizations and methods have been established in China. That is, according to different situations at different times, the focus and main tasks of the Party’s work in rural areas have been closely revolved; “work teams” have been sent to vast rural areas to organize farmers; enthusiasm and initiative have been mobilized; the Party’s various lines, principles, and policies in rural areas have been implemented; and the construction and development of rural society has been promoted. This was the case during the democratic revolution and during the socialist revolution and still during the reform and opening up and the construction of a new socialist countryside. Therefore, “work team” is a keyword used in the development of contemporary rural China, not only because of its temporal significance but also because of its substantive meaning.
